The First Day

Will's teacher (Mrs. McDonald) sent this home with him after his first day of kindergarten.

The First Day

I gave you a little wink and smile
as you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
and know your child must stay.
You've been with him for five years now

to leave him at my side.

Jury Service Complete

As of 5:17 pm today my jury service is officially complete. I will not have to serve again for 2 years. I sat on one jury which was the first day we were called in. I believe I only had to go in 3 more times over the next 4 months. My name was called to sit on another trial but I was excused because Zach was having his tubes put in.

My brother in-law's wife Jennifer has to report next week. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

Soccer Dude

Will had his first soccer practice last night. I guess he had as much fun as a kid can have playing a sport that he knows very little about. Other then watching his cousin Meredith play, he hasn't had much exposure to it. They really just ran through a few drills and then the coach talked to them about the rules. His first game is on his Aunt Jodie's birthday (Sept 11th).

First Day of Kindergarten

Will got off to Kindergarten this morning. Everything went very smooth. He was excited the day had finally arrived and his mother held it together very well. She may be a wreck at home right now but she did fine in our presence.

A Look Back - Will's First Big Boy Haircut

I went back to see if I had pictures of Will's first big boy haircut and sure enough I did. He sure has grown since then.

Zach's First Big Boy Haircut

Zach got his first big boy haircut at the barber shop today. He did great! I thought he would wiggle around but he was good about being still and only got sad one time when Becky go close to him. I guess he thought she was going to save him. Momma's get all sad when their little boys start looking like big boys. I kinda understand but not really. I think he looks darn handsome. Maybe that's the problem?

Kindergarten

Will starts Kindergarten on Monday, August 25th. We had parent orientation tonight and tomorrow he will meet his teacher. He's going to a half day KG at a local church. It's a pretty cool program and his teacher is very nice. I think he's going to really enjoy it.

Burn'n NRG (that's Burnin' Energy for you old folks)

Will had "forever energy" on Tuesday so I was given the opportunity to take him out and burn some of it off. We made a trip to Chic-fil-a to eat and play. After playing for about 10 minutes Will was ready for his chocolate shake. So we got his shake and went to the park to play some more.

Countdown

I just added the countdown timer for Will's first day of school. All of a sudden it makes me nervous. There's something about watching a timer countdown that changes things.

What's that smell?

This weekend Will was in our house and he was asking Becky what was so stinky. She hasn't been able to smell anything half of her life due to bad allergies and this day was no different. Well the smell was following Will around but Becky couldn't smell it and she didn't see anything. Until Will spotted something on Zach's lower leg that is. He said, "Momma, that looks like poo poo on Zach's leg." It was. And from a dog. But where did it come from and how did it get on his leg? I got involved at this point and started looking for the poo origin. I looked in our bedroom where Will and Zach had been. I didn't see anything but Will had followed me in and I could smell it. Sure enough, Will had brought it in on his shoes. No wonder it was following him around. Will and I had just come in from working in the backyard. I'm not sure how it was transfered from his shoe to Zach but the main mystery had been solved.

Moral of the story: Always check the shoe when looking for poo.

Inspiration

I haven't really felt inspired to write in a few weeks. Probably because things at work have been really busy. However, I guess I should update everyone on what has been going on or will be going on.

Becky's dad had a bad fall a few weeks ago but after a week in the hospital he is slowly getting back to halfway normal (which still isn't very good). He and Patty are pressing on every day.

Zach had tubes put in his ears. The surgery went very well and he is 100% recovered. He's climbing like his daddy and getting into everything he can. If it weren't for baby gates and cabinet locks we would be in trouble.

Will has discovered a new show on TLC. It's Big Foot presents Mighty Meteor and his Monster Truck Friends or something like that. It's basically animated monster trucks (like the Cars movie). We have seen many a show. I prefer Curious George myself.

Will starts Kindergarten on the 25th. I think he's looking forward to it. I'm sure much more than Becky.
